Natural born contrarian physician. Father. Nephrologist. (ex) Professor. Bassist. Sailor.

Dr. Richard Amerling stands out not just as a consummate nephrologist, but also as an advocate for preserving the doctor-patient relationship amidst the complexities of modern healthcare. My role in The Wellness Company is going to focus on the education and re-education of our physician corps. We need to approach patients in a different way; one that involves returning to the first principles of medicine: The basic sciences and Hippocratic ethics.

Beyond his direct medical endeavors, Dr. Amerling has emerged as a thought leader in healthcare policy. Passionate about medical ethics, he often engages in dialogues aimed at enhancing the quality and integrity of healthcare delivery. In October 2016, Dr. Amerling accepted a position as Professor at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. From April-August 2020, after SGU went to online teaching, he volunteered as a nephrologist at NYU/Bellevue to help with their acute dialysis program. In July 2021, Dr. Amerling was placed on administrative leave by SGU for non-compliance with their vaccine mandate, and ultimately terminated in January 2022. Dr. Richard Amerling is a founding member and Principal Academic Officer of The Wellness Company.
